Wade Hyde

Waymon D. ‘Wade’ Hyde’s background spans three decades of diversified marketing, public relations, customer relations, and technology communications experience, working with several nationally recognized companies and organizations. As a leading corporate communications executive forBlockbuster, Hyde concentrated on significantly improving trade, retail, and international media relations while this entertainment giant was undergoing significant management and fiscal changes. He previously headed the financial communications department for FoxMeyer Corporation (now McKesson), a Fortune 500 $5.5 billion pharmaceutical distribution company, where his team successfully guided the corporation through a period of extreme stock value declination, bankruptcy, and a corporate merger.

Hyde spent several years as a business and communications analyst at Anthem Health (now AmeriHealth), a Blue Cross/Blue Shield affiliated insurance organization, following his work in television at CBS-affiliate KDFW-TV Channel 4 and independent station KXTX-TV Channel 39. Before forming Wade Hyde Corporation, a management consulting firm specializing in corporate communications, public relations, and target marketing, Hyde served as vice president of marketing & public relations for a publicly-traded real estate investment company.

A longtime member of the National Writers Union, Hyde is a published feature writer and columnist for national magazines, regional newspapers, and leading websites, including American Profile, Texas Triangle , and MatchScene.com, the former online publication for match.com.

Hyde was a top graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, receiving the Outstanding Student Award in Radio-Television-Film from the College of Communications. He later earned a Master of Science in Marketing from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Since 2001, Hyde has been a distinguished faculty member at Dallas College, teaching marketing, retail, customer service, sales, and project management. He led the marketing and entrepreneurship program for several years at the downtown El Centro Campus.

Hyde also recently served as the executive director of the New Texas Symphony Orchestra, the premier community orchestra of Dallas, where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Beyond his professional experience, Hyde regularly volunteers for various philanthropic causes and not-for-profit organizations, including Legacy Cares, where he faithfully served on the board of directors for nearly 20 years and chaired the organization’s finance committee as treasurer. A patron of the arts, Hyde is a former member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus, a board member of the Irving High School Band Alumni Association, and cofounder of Plymouth Park Performances, a fine arts concert series and local theater production company. He is currently a member of the Fort Worth Chorale.

A community activist, Hyde helped establish the Kessler Plaza Neighborhood Association in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. He was elected for several terms as a Dallas County election judge and served as precinct chair for over ten years. Hyde is an avid naturalist and actively participates in the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network, collecting and documenting daily precipitation and climatological information for scientific study. Hyde additionally was a founding steering committee member for The University of Texas-Exes LGBT Network and is currently a member of The Chancellor’s Council of the University of Texas System.

Hyde is married to Tim Thobe, founder ofToby Foods,and they happily live together in Dallas with Grady and Fred, their rescued cat and dog.
