Lupe Valdez was elected Sheriff of Dallas County on November 4, 2004, and became the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the County of Dallas on January 1, 2005. Sheriff Valdez is one of a few female sheriffs in the State of Texas and is the only Latina Sheriff in the Nation. Sheriff Valdez has been in Law Enforcement for more than 30 years, both Federal and State. On November 6, 2012, she was re-elected to serve another four years.
