We had so much fun the first time that we are doing it again!
The Way We Were: Dallas LGBTQ+ Nightlife, 1945–Today is a community archiving initiative created by Badge of Pride in partnership with The Dallas Way, Dallas Social Queer Organization, and Coalition for Aging LGBT. Together, we are working to preserve the photos, flyers, snapshots, and memories that tell the story of Dallas LGBTQ+ nightlife across eight decades.
Many of these historical pieces are not in museums or formal collections. They are in photo albums, drawers, closets, shoeboxes, and garages. They may be pictures from a favorite bar, a drag show, a Pride celebration, a community fundraiser, a night out with friends, or a place that helped you feel at home.
Please bring them.

Community Scanning Event
Thursday, July 23
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Resource Center (5750 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas, TX 75235)
Hosted by Jenna Skyy, this free event will be easy, informal, and fun. We will digitize your materials on-site while you wait, and you will leave with your originals in hand.
Items contributed to the project will help shape a public exhibition this fall and become part of the Portal to Texas History, helping ensure that Dallas LGBTQ+ nightlife history is preserved and accessible for future generations.
When in doubt, bring it, and we will scan it.
